The Pennsylvania Civil War Project/Pennsylvanians in the Civil War

by Steve Maczuga, Population Research Institute

Pennsylvania Monument at Gettysburg National Battlefield, May 2005
This Pennsylvania Civil War Project uses the book:
History of Pennsylvania volunteers, 1861-5; prepared in compliance with acts of the legislature by Samuel P. Bates., Bates, Samuel P. (Samuel Penniman), 1827-1902.

The data from the Bates book is entered into an Excel Spreadsheet and then a SAS program imports the data and creates a few new variables. The SAS dataset is then exported into an ACCESS database and therefore can be accessed by COLD FUSION through web pages.
