Penn State has two subcontracts with study centers of the National Children's Study. The National Children's Study, funded by NICHD, will examine the effects of environmental influences on the health and development of more than 100,000 children across the United States, following them from before birth until age 21. The subcontract with the University of Pennsylvania/Drexel vanguard center is to assist with subject recruitment in rural areas of Pennsylvania as well as other phases of the project. The subcontract with the University of Pittsburgh is to assist with the development of the sampling frame, geocoding, and recruitment in rural areas of Pennsylvania.
