Researchers in RAND's Behavioral and Social Sciences Group work on multi-disciplinary research teams, producing objective, scientific analyses in peer-reviewed journals and technical reports to guide policymakers on a diverse set of issues. Staff members have opportunities to teach in the RAND Graduate School and to collaborate on projects across various research programs, including Health; Education; Labor and Population; Child Policy, National Security; Infrastructure, Safety, and Environment, and the Institute for Civil Justice.Education Requirements:
PhD in sociology, demography, or related field (you may also apply if you are at the dissertation stage and expect to complete your PhD within 12 months).All research positions at RAND require excellent analytic skills, and proven ability in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods. Particular methodological areas of interest include network analysis and multi-level modeling. We also require the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing; the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team; and a strong commitment to RAND's core values of quality and objectivity.
