The Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR), a nonprofit think-tank that conducts research and policy analysis to address the needs of women, seeks to hire an Economist or other social scientist for its program on Employment Policy. (See www.iwpr.org for more information about IWPR's mission and work.)The researcher will conduct quantitative analyses to explore women's status, assess the impact of existing and proposed public policies, and educate policy makers, the public and other audiences. The current primary focus of IWPR's employment policy program is paid leave and other aspects of job quality, especially those related to work and family balance. The researcher will also consult on related IWPR projects such as cost/benefit analyses of child-care programs, higher education, and other key and emerging issues that affect women's economic well-being. Besides conducting research and communicating it to IWPR's audiences, the researcher at IWPR also develops programs for future research and assists in securing funds for the Institute's work. The researcher also represents IWPR at meetings with other researchers, with local, state, and federal policymakers, and with coalitions working to enact policy change.
The position may be filled at any level (Program Director, Study Director, or Research Associate level) depending on the experience and qualifications of the candidate selected.
