Expert Panel on the Contextual Relationship between Individual Level Violence and Macro Level Economic FactorsThe purpose of the project is to identify macro-level economic risk and protective factors (e.g., community-level economic inequality, poverty, unemployment?) for youth violence and explore ideas for how best to bridge the gap between etiologic research and effective community-level interventions. It will culminate in a series of peer reviewed articles (or book sections) published in a journal special issue (or book).
The specific aims are to convene an expert panel to:
- Review etiologic macro-level economic risk literature and identify limitations.
- Review macro-level economic intervention literature.
- Explore ideas for how best to bridge the gap between etiologic research and intervention.
- Discuss pathways linking macroeconomic conditions and youth violence.
- Develop future directions for research.
